Mach1 Creative
The Problem
Our team was tasked with creating an advertising agency that we would be part of for the duration of the semester. The agency needed all the bells and whistles including stationary, a splash page and a magazine ad.
Our Process
Our team started off this process by brainstorming a brand promise. We all agreed that our lives are overwhelmed by advertisements. Ads pop up on our timelines, our Google searches, our favorite videos and our podcasts. We've become so used to these distractions that they become background static to our lives. Our agency's work cuts through this static to grab peoples attention and pique their interest.

After realizing that we wanted to break through this clutter, Jaime (our creative director), had the lightning bolt of an idea for the name MACH1. He was inspired by planes that break the sound barrier and the corresponding sonic boom.

I worked closely on our typography selection and our magazine ad. For the typography, I was looking for a sleek sans serif font that was bold enough to stick out from the incredibly crowded field of agencies. I decided to use the IBM Plex Sans Condensed typography family. I came up with the concept for the magazine ad while sitting in class one day. I envisioned a vibrant, excited person who was surrounded by a greyscale world that was dull and uninspiring. Our Art Director Gwayne found the perfect image of a young woman with her arms up grinning from ear to ear at a concert. We added some MACH1 themed highlights and finished it off with our logo and brand promise.
